
Paneer Shawarma style Roll घर पे बनाएँ पनीर शवर्मा No egg No Oven No Yeast
One of the most popular Street foods in middle eastern cuisine, Shawarma. Here's my veg version of the same. Do try it this weekend!
Ingredients
For Marinating Paneer
200 gms Paneer, sliced thinly , पनीर
Salt to taste , नमक स्वादानुसार
¼ tsp Degi red chilli powder , देगी लाल मिर्च पाउडर
1 tbsp Mayonnaise , मेयोनिज
3 tbsp Hung Curd , टंगा हुआ दही
Salt to taste , नमक स्वादानुसार
1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste , अदरक लहसुन का पेस्ट
1 tbsp Tomato ketchup , टाॅमेटो केचप
1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped धनिया पत्ता
1 tsp Dried Oregano , सुखा ओरिगैनो
½ tsp Refined flour , मैदा (optional)
Oil for frying , तेल तलने के लिए
For Pickled Veggies
1 Bay leaf , तेज पत्ता
2 cloves Garlic , लहसुन
Salt to taste , नमक स्वादानुसार
½ tsp Sugar , चीनी
Water , पानी
¼ cup Vinegar , सिरका
1 medium Carrot, small batons , गाजर
1 medium Beetroot, small batons , चुकंदर
½ medium Cucumber, seedless, small batons , ककड़ी
2-3 fresh Green chillies, slit , हरी मिर्च
For Shawarma Roti
1½ cup Refined flour , मैदा
Salt to taste , नमक स्वादानुसार
1 tsp Powdered sugar , पिसी हुई चीनी
½ tsp Baking soda , खाने का सोडा
½ tsp Baking powder, (double acting) , बेकिंग पाउडर
Water , पानी
1 heaped tbsp Curd , दही
1 tbsp Oil , तेल
For Spread
½ cup Mayonnaise , मेयोनिज
¼ tsp Salt , नमक
1 tsp Garlic paste , लहसुन का पेस्ट
Other Ingredients
French fries , फ्रेंच फ्राइज
Onions, sliced , प्याज
Tomatoes, sliced , टमाटर
Fresh Coriander leaves , धनिया पत्ता
Process
For Marinating Paneer
- Firstly apply salt, degi red chilli powder to the sliced paneer and keep aside for further use.
- In a bowl add mayonnaise, hung curd, salt, ginger-garlic paste, tomato ketchup, coriander leaves, dried oregano and mix everything properly.
- Then apply this to the paneer slices properly from asides and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
For Pickled Veggies
- In a pan add bay leaf, garlic, salt, sugar, water, vinegar and boil it for 2-3 minutes, switch off the flames and remove in a bowl.
- Then add the carrots, beetroot, cucumber, green chillies mix once and keep aside for further use or until at least for 5-6 hours.
For Shawarma Roti
- In a bowl add refined flour, salt, powdered sugar, baking soda, baking powder, water, curd and knead a semi soft dough, apply some oil knead once and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.
- Now take a medium portion of the dough and roll it thin using a rolling pin.
- Put it on a hot flat pan and cook it for both sides.
- Remove and keep aside, repeat this for all of the roti’s.
For Spread
- In a bowl add mayonnaise, salt, garlic paste and mix it properly and keep aside for further use.
For Assembling Shawarma
- Heat a grill pan, add oil and cook the marinated paneer for both sides properly and then cut it into thin strips.
- In another grill pan heat the roti properly the apply the spread, add the cooked paneer strips, french fries, pickled veggies, sliced onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves
- Remove on a plate and roll it tightly and wrap it in a butter paper. Serving warm with sauce.
