
Ingredients
For the marination
500 gm King Fish/Surmai, darne cut
½ tsp Turmeric powder
Salt to taste
½ tbsp Lime juice
For the Gravy
1 tbsp Coriander seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
3-4 Garlic Cloves
½ tsp Turmeric powder
3 Dried Kashmiri Red Chilli, stems removed
¾ cup grated Coconut
1 small Onion, sliced
2 Green Chillies, slit
6-7 Kokum
Salt to taste
Marinated Fish
Process
- In a mixing bowl, add salt, turmeric powder, lime juice and fish pieces. Coat the fish completely.
- Marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a bowl, add onions and salt. Keep it to soften up.
- In a mixing jar, add coriander seeds, cumin seeds, garlic cloves, turmeric powder, dried red chilli and grated coconut. Grind into a smooth thick paste and add water as required.
- In a heavy bottom pan, add the paste and water for the gravy. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add softened onions and green chillies, mix well.
- Add kokum and salt, mix well.
- Add the marinated fish in the gravy, close the lid. Cook for 7-8 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice.
