Ingredients

For Besan Peda

1 tbsp Ghee, घी

1 cup Gram flour, बेसन

¼ cup Ghee, घी

1 cup Milk powder, मिल्क पाउडर

¼ cup Desiccated coconut (optional) नारियल का बुरादा

¾ cup Milk, दूध

2 tbsp Saffron water, केसर का पानी

½ cup Caster sugar, केस्टर शुगर

2 tbsp Milk, दूध

½ tsp Cardamom powder, इलायची पाउडर

 

For Muscovado sugar

½ cup Sugar, चीनी

Little Water, पानी

 

For Mawa Peda

2 tbsp Ghee, घी

½ kg Mawa, मावा

⅓ cup Muscovado sugar, powdered, कच्ची शक्कर

 

For Coating

Muscovado sugar, powdered, कच्ची शक्कर

 

For Garnish

Green cardamom, seeds, हरी इलायची के दाने

Process

For Besan Peda

  • In a kadai or pan, add the, once it’s hot, add gram flour and roast well for 7-8 minutes on low flame.
  • Add ghee and mix it well, add milk powder, desiccated coconut and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add milk in small batches and stir it with the help of whisk to avoid the lumps.
  • Add saffron water, castor sugar and cook it for a while until it binds well.
  • Finish it with the milk and cook it for a minute on medium flames.
  • Transfer it to a bowl, add cardamom powder and mix it well.
  • Keep it aside to cool down at room temperature.
  • Divide the mixture into lemon size balls and give it a desired shape.
  • Transfer it on a serving platter or dish.

 

For Muscovado Sugar

  • In a pan, add sugar, water and cook well until it turns grainy in texture.
  • Transfer it to a bowl or tray and keep it aside to cool.
  • Sieve the sugar with the help of a strainer and keep it aside for further use.

 

For Mawa Peda

  • In a kadai, add ghee, once it’s hot, add mawa and cook it well until mawa turns grainy or mixture starts leaving the pan.
  • Transfer it to a tray and keep it aside to cool down at room temperature.
  • Transfer it to a parat and knead it well until smooth.
  • Add prepared muscovado sugar and mix it well.
  • Divide the mixture into lemon size balls and give it a desired shape.
  • Make a thumb imprint on the peda and transfer it to a serving platter or dish.
  • Garnish it with green cardamom seeds and serve.
