Jain American Chopsuey

Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 20 minutes | Servings: 2


For Noodles Frying

1 packet chinese hakka noodles (Appx. 200 gms )

Oil for deep frying

For Chop Suey Sauce

1 tbsp Oil

1 tsp celery, chopped

1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped (optional)

½ cup cabbage, shredded

¼ cup green capsicum, cut diagonally

¼ cup red bell pepper, cut diagonally

¼ cup babycorns, cut diagonally

¼ cup  tomato ketchup

1 tbsp chilli sauce

1 tbsp light soy sauce

1 tsp white pepper powder

1 tsp sugar

salt to taste

1 tbsp corn flour slurry (2 tbsp cornflour + 2 tbsp water)


  • Heat oil in a pan, add the ginger, celery and saute till fragrant.
  • Add cabbage and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add green, red capsicum, baby corn and mix well. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add tomato ketchup, sweet chilli sauce, light soy sauce, white pepper powder, sugar, salt, ½ cup water and mix well.
  • Thicken the sauce with the corn flour slurry and finish with toasted sesame oil.
  • Pour everything over fried noodles and serve immediately.
